Chard Swimming Club held their fourth Club Gala of the year at Flamingo Pool in Axminster last week, writes Hannah Pullinger.

Over seventy swimmers ranging from seven to 17 years took part.

Some excellent swims at the Gala secured Silver Speed Badges for Somer Horsfield, Moli Riley, Sarah Underwood and Joss Copeman all swimming 50m freestyle under 36 seconds for the first time.

There were also many Somerset County qualifying times achieved at the Gala. (Regional and National qualifying times cannot officially be achieved at this level of competition).

The Swimmer of the Month trophies for July were awarded to 14-year-old Jamie Pullinger and jointly to 10-year-old girls Leonie Housham and Eden McDonald on achieving the most progress points in Galas during July.
