The Axe Cliff men braved the weather in a two-ball bowmaker, writes Dave Bruce.
The format was medal and, in what was a close contest, Andrew and Anthony Hellier kept their heads and form to win the day.
The first competition of 2018 was the monthly medal and Cosh Trophy meeting.
The Helliers featured strongly again, with Anthony winning Division One with a net 76, but it was close, for he edged it on countback across the back nine from Ian Burraston, who also played well to finish with a net 76. Geoff Greenslade had a cracking game, coming home with a net 71 to win Division Two, well ahead of long-standing member Alan Morgan, who had a net 78 to take second place.
Continuing the Hellier winning sequence, Anthony lifted the Cosh Trophy. Keeping the Hellier name in the headlines, Andrew carded one of the brace of twos scored during the day, the other was scored by Craig Trivett.
