Hard-fought competitive bowling in Seaton

Seaton Bowling Club’s week of competitive bowling commenced on Tuesday, July 10, with a County Unbadged Pairs semi-final being played at Seaton, between two home pairs, writes Alan Nicholas.

In a hard-fought competitive match, Dave Yardley and Don Yaxley beat Ed Backhouse and Richard Whitworth, to move on to the final.

Wednesday saw an Over 60s Triples League match for the A team, playing away in Exeter against the Pinces Club A team. Seaton won one triple and drew the other, to take the match by 44 shots to 29. Seaton’s winning triple being that of Andy Ross (on his debut for the Seaton team), Don Yaxley and Roger Woolland, scoring 27 shots against 12.

On Thursday, the Ladies Over 50s Triples League, Blue team faced Sidmouth Yellow on our Seafield Gardens green, producing a very satisfying result for the home team, by winning both triples, with an overall shots score of 38 against 31. Top triple for Seaton being, Carol Armitage and Joan Miles.
