AXE CLIFF - Once again the Seniors put up a good fight away from home, this time at Torrington in a recent inter-club match, writes Janet Dack.

Again the outcome decided on the final match and a narrow win for the home side gave them an overall victory by 4-2. Successful pairings for Axe Cliff were Mick Tomes/Neil Moorcraft and Malcolm Glass/John Mason.

Despite the good weather, the turn-out for the three club competition was disappointing but the outcome was very close. In the end the trophy went to Brian Wilkes (13) with his winning score of 33 pts, a point ahead of the runners-up. On the countback second place went to Tony Strong (9) and third to Neil Moorcraft (22)

The Main Club competed this Sunday for the July Medal. Division One was won by Cyril Hellier (11) with a nett 69. Second with a nett 71 and a better back nine than third placed Charlie Griffin (8) was Peter Petherbridge (12). Division Two was won by Theo Boalch (18) with a fantastic nett 62. Second was Robert Foxwell (20) with a nett 66
