Harris the stand-out star at the 2013 Axminster Bowls Finals

David Harris was the stand-out star of the show in the 2013 Axminster outdoor bowls club finals which were held over two days last week.

Harris lifted no fewer than four individual honours and was also part of two successful teams.

In the Ladies 4-wood Singles there was victory for Joan Quick over Ann Clayton whilst the Men’s 4-wood Singles saw Bob Sherborne defeat Andy Spiller. In the Ladies 2-wood Singles it was Ann Clayton who was crowned winner with Margaret Crompton the runner-up.

In the Men’s 2-wood Singles David Harris was acclaimed winner with Brian Clark the valiant runner-up and, in the Ladies 101 competition Mary Preston defeated Liz earl.

In the Men’s 101 David Harris claimed victory over Steven Apsey and the same pairing met in the final of the Open 4-wood Singles with Harris once again the victor.

John Hill secured the Non Winner Cup, defeating Marion Harris whilst David Harris and Alan Taylor combined to defeat Morrison Brown and Steven Apsey in the men’s 4-Wood.Pairs. In the Mixed 4-wood Pairs David and Marion Harris were victorious over Steven Apsey and Margaret Compton.

In the Axminster weekly inter-club competitions the Monday Evening league winners were the team David Harris, Steven Apsey, Marion Harris, and Barbara Mowatt.

The Umbrella winner was David Harris with Brian Clark the runner-up and the Triples competition winner was David Harris with Sheila Martin the runner-up.
