Conditions were favourable for the seventh round of the Seniors’ Winter League Programme, writes Janet Dack.

The holders of the shield, Rob Grove and Bryan Dale are battling hard to complete a hat-trick of successive wins and with the leading score of 38 points they are among several teams well placed to end victorious.

Second place on Friday went to Brian Wilkes and Sid Pember with 37 points, while two further teams each scored 36 points. Third place on countback went to Peter Knighting and Hugh Willis with Geoff Hughes and Peter Motson settling for fourth spot. There were three twos, from Alan Vincent, John Mant and Geoff Hughes.

?Main Club: The January Stableford saw good scores. Div One winner was Chris Glover (12) with 41 pts whose handicap is now 11. In second place was Captain Paul Clode (8) with 39 pts reducing his handicap to 7.3 and beating Nigel Pritchard (11) also with 39 pts after countback. Div Two winner was Stuart Dickson (28) with an excellent 42 pts reducing his handicap to 26 and beating Matt Donman (26) now 25 after countback also with 42 points.

Third place went to Peter Smith (16) with 36 points.
