The Axe Cliff July Medal was played for on Sunday in glorious summer weather (make the most of it!) and it was a good day for the Hellier family, writes Janet Dack.

The Hellier’s celebrated a double triumph and a one-two!

Cyril Hellier claimed victory in division one with a nett 72.

Just behind in second was Andrew Hellier with his nett 73.

Division Two was won by Anthony Hellier with a nett 70 with Peter Petherbridge sealing second place with a nett 73.

Meanwhile, Axe Cliff captain Basil Dean had an away week-end in Ireland with 11 members of the club.

The trip was enjoyed by one and all and raised well over £100 for the captain’s charity.
