The highlight of the last fortnight was an excellent 64-43 win at Madeira in a mixed friendly with wins on all three rinks.

Scores were: Les Monk, Jean Kesterton, Eric Skeemer, and Margaret Crompton (23-7), David Harris, Marion Harris, Ann Clayton, and Brian Parsons (23-20) and Lilian Lovatt, Pam Clark, Brian Clark, and Jan Parsons (18-16).

However, the club lost their other two mixed friendlies, at home to Budleigh (47-65) with no rink winners, and away to Taunton BC (49-70) with Phil White, William Cook, David Harris, and Sheila Martin the only winners (24-16)

In the two mens' friendlies, Axminster lost at home to the strong Devon President's team (42-78) before doing well to win at Sidmouth in an excellent match (60-54) with a top rink of Graham Ayres, Neil Solomon, Gerald Knott and Norman Denslow (21-12).

●The county games, however, were very disappointing, with the men losing their Interclub game with South Hams (49-111) - the best effort came from the home rink of Neil Solomon, Alan Preece, Sid Milbur, and Charlie Barber, who lost narrowly (18-21).

●The ladies lost both their County Foxlands games, first against Sidmouth (67-103) - no scorecards to hand - and then against Exonia (60-91), with only the home rink of Lilian Lovatt, Pam Clark, Marion Harris, and Sheila Martin managing a win (21-17).
