Honiton’s seven-a-side Summer League hockey season is approaching the finals, writes Ann Reed.

The last two Tuesdays saw Honiton 2 (in Group 1) playing, with Honiton 1 (in Group 2) only playing this past Tuesday.

On the first Tuesday Honiton 2 played Torbay and, with both Katrina Tucker and Sophie George scoring excellent goals, and the opposition unable to find the back of the net, a good win was realised.

This past Tuesday Honiton 1 were pitted against Newton Abbot in a very tough game which was won decisively by Newton Abbot. Honiton 2 played a local ‘derby’ against Otter Crickets. This was a much more even game with a 0-0 draw the final result.

In the third match of the evening Chard played a winning match against Okehampton.

By the end of this evening each group’s final placings had been decided; so that next Tuesday sees the semi final evening beginning at 7pm with Honiton 2 versus Chard; followed at 8pm by Newton Abbot versus Ottery Crickets.
