Holyrood Academy’s year 8 boys played Preston in the area football final and won a thrilling contest by the odd goal in nine.

Alec Evans quickly opened up the score line for Holyrood when he found the back of the net, but Preston fought back well and, after an exciting first half, the score was 2-2 at half-time.

Coach Mr Burns gathered his players together during the interval and they came out all blazing in the second half with George Dickenson scoring to make it 3-2 and Tae Wakeling scoring twice in quick succession.

Memphis Jones then made the score 5-2, but some poor decision making combined with a lack of concentration meant that Holyrood let Preston back into the game and soon the score was at 5-4 with minutes to go.

Despite Preston having momentum, Holyrood were able to see the game out and were named District Champions at the final whistle!
