The Torbay Shield was held at Exmouth between eight local clubs from Torbay and East Devon area. Conditions could have been a bit better on the day but it could have been a lot worse, writes Mike Spiller.

There was one boat section out from Exmouth on Tiger charters and five shore zones between Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton.

A good selection of fish were recorded in this catch/measure and release event from both boat and the shore sections.

Conditions at Exmouth apparently were challenging, with dirty water and weed causing problems for most of the competition.

The host club Exmouth SAA ran out the winners on the day with 36 points, joint runners up were Honiton and Cormorants on 32 points.

Third went to Budleigh Salterton who scored 25 points. Torbay and Babbacombe were fourth on 24 points. Teignmouth scored 22 points, Sidmouth 21 points and Dartmouth had 20 points.

Host club for 2013 will be Torbay and Babbacombe and the suggested date will be October 13, 2013.
