A band of fog, which rolled onto the course and threatened to close the re-run of the June 3-ball-better-ball Open last Wednesday, caused some anxious moments for lady captain, Pam Greenaway, writes Andy Wagner.

It was touch and go for about 20 minutes before it finally disappeared as mysteriously as it had arrived, allowing the event to finish.

It turned out to be a most successful event, ultimately won by home players Tricia Swindell and Henrietta Bradshaw together with third member Marian Hurley from Bridport, who romped home with a score of 84 stableford points.

In second place, on 83 points, were Liz Collier (Elford Leigh), Jill Owen and Sara Kendall (Stadden Heights). In third place after count back was used, also on 83 points, were Caron Ward, Dee Thompson and Sonja Ryland (Dainton Park).

Other prizes were awarded down to seventh place, as well as nearest the pin on the second and tenth holes and nearest the line on the 18th.
