Honiton Harriers 4, Honiton Troopers 2 The two Honiton Town Under-9s sides met in an in-house derby that was keenly contested, writes Dave Haysom.

In an end-to-end game it was Ashton Beck who opened the scoring for the Harriers with what proved to be the only goal of the first half.

After the break the tempo remained high with both teams showing real endeavour and work rate. Harriers doubled their lead with Beck once more the scorer. Troopers halved the deficit through Lewis Clyburn, but the two-goal lead was swiftly restored via a Liam Osborne header. Young Clyburn netted again to make it 3-2, but it was Beck who finished what he started with his hat-trick goal to complete the scoring and seal the Harriers win.

Beck was named the Harriers Player of the Match. Harriers manager Gary Osborne said: “Both teams played with great spirit, passion and honest hard work. The result was not important but the way both the teams played shows what a great future the club has got with this particular age group.”
