Honiton 2nd XV entertained South Molton on the second pitch and bolstered by a few late availabilities they started brightly and with a dominance in the three quarters they scored four tries in the first half, writes Paz Parrott.
Skipper James Foot and Philip Cooke scored one each and Same Collins got a brace. Molton did keep them selves in it with a catch and drive try and this was to be a very effective feature to their game.
At 22-5 up at half-time, Honiton were confident of registering a win but the visitors had other ideas and this kick to the corner and then catch and drive worked well and they did this twice to put themselves right back into the game. Honiton steady the ship with a try scored by Jonnie Selway who was Honiton Man of the Match, but with time running out Moulton punished Honiton’s mistakes with another catch and drive they scored again and with the score at 27-25 and only a minute on the clock they thought they had done enough but from the restart a penalty was again kicked in the corner and with no answer to the visitors rolling maul they scored again to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat and Honiton were stunned going down 27-30 in a game they should clearly have won.
