Honiton RFC have started their planning for next season and have re-appointed Callum Hill as their player coach for the 2015/16 campaign.

Having had a previous successful stint at the club, Hill takes over from Jason Hannay who has stepped down because of work commitments.

Hannay still intends to play, but he felt he could not fully commit to running the show for another season of Devon and Cornwall fixtures.

Hill takes over having had a season out of rugby and comes back with re-charged batteries and a full commitment to the club. Honiton’s last campaign was a difficult one as they had to come to terms with the loss of several players who had gone to more senior clubs to further their careers. This season with few announced departures and the influx of several players from the very successful colts side, Honiton hope to be able to regroup and gain a top half finish this outing.

Joining Hill, to add stability to the management team, are Paul (Paz) Parrott, who moves up from his successful tenure as the colts administration role, to do the seniors, and Phil Oaten will run the seconds and he will therefore oversee the transition from colts to men’s rugby for a number of the promising Honiton younger players.

There’s a players meeting initiated by the new player-coach and this will tale place at the club on June 23 at 7pm.

Hill wants to set out the stall for the new campaign and he would welcome any new players who would like to play for the club. There will also be access to a ‘Beginners’ training programme for those who are new to the game and would like to learn how to play.

Touch rugby continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Allhallows ground from 7pm. All are always welcome to turn up and join in.
