Honiton bag fine win at Victoria Club, Torquay

Honiton played three friendly matches in the past week, writes Tony Broughton.

It all began with a trip to Feniton where three teams were beaten, but there was an amazing 21-7 win by Di Hawkins, Bob Mackintosh and Bill Nicholls which enabled Honiton to draw the match 58-58.

A trip to Torquay to play the Victoria Club had Honiton winning three and losing one rink to claim overall match success at 74-68. The top rink was the one of June Lee, Daphne Courtney and Mike Smith with 26-8.

The final friendly of the week was against touring side Fareham who dropped in on their way for a week’s tour based in Torquay.

There was Honiton success on four rinks with defeats on the other two.

The top home rink comprised Anne Hillyear, John Munslow, Maureen Willcocks and Ken Clarke who secured a 26-15 with Honiton winning overall by eight shots at 114-106.
