Honiton bowler Scott Eveleigh bags final berth at National Championships

Great Scott! A young Honiton bowler made his name at the national championships in Leamington, writes Julie Grant.
Scott Eveleigh reached the final of the Under-18 tournament sponsored by Sutton Winson.
In all 128 players from across England entered this three-wood singles competition scored in sets.
Scott won six games over two days to get to the final where he won the first set, but eventually lost to a lad from Herefordshire.
Triumphant as runner-up Scott came home with a substantial cash prize and a wonderful experience of playing at the Mecca of bowls.
The club congratulates Scott on his performance and on being a credit to Devon and in particular to Honiton.
Meanwhile, in club action, there was success also for the club in mixed friendlies, but especially for Clive James who skipped two of the best winning rinks.
Honiton beat St Austell 109-91, top rink Maureen Parsons, Gerry Dommett and Clive (32-5).
Honiton were also victorious away at Crewkerne,l winning 62-56, top rink Yvonne Williams, Jimmy Smith ‘Tilly’ Tillier and Clive (22-9).
The Over-60s men’s Triples League B team lost again, this time going down by 10 shots at Ottery St Mary and now only have two games left to recover and avoid relegation.
