Honiton bowler Steve Coles into Devon semi-finals

Honiton bowler Steve Coles has played his way into the Devon County Bowling Association semi-finals, writes Julie Grant.

In the singles event, he beat Neil Walls from Plymouth 21-12 to secure a place in the last four where he will now meet Ian Turner of Mid Devon. The game will be played on Saturday, April14 at Isca Bowls Club in Exeter with the winner playing in the final at the same venue that day. Well done, Steve on your success so far, and the very best of luck for April 14!

Honiton ladies managed to gain enough points in their last Foxlands League game to stay in Division One for next season.

Although losing to Torbay by 71 shots to 81, there were two winning rinks for Honiton with home success for the rink of Yvonne Williams, Di Hawkins, Heather Chambers and Carole Binmore (24-21) and away success for Gloria Randall, Pat Whitworth, Rita Barwick and Di Morley (21-16).

In their friendly game, Honiton ladies won by just one shot away at Budleigh with the winning rink being the one of Yvonne Williams, Joan Mackintosh, Margaret Bright and Heather Chambers (11-10). There was defeat for the ladies in their Isca Challenge match and the men lost their Interclub meeting with Exonia.

This coming Sunday (April 8), Honiton Bowls Club stages its annual Snows Toyota Tournament when there will be money to be won
