Archant

It may be the start of summer for meteorologists, but bowlers from Honiton faced a force nine gale at Crediton and got blown away, literally, losing 111-61 in a mixed friendly, writes Julie Grant.

The one winning rink was the one of Yvonne Williams, Scott Eveleigh and Bill Nicholls (21-15).

Honiton did enjoy a close win away at Tiverton Park, 75 to 74. At home, Honiton beat the Nomads 114 to 106 with the top rink comprising Myra Singleton, David Downs, Mike Critchley, and Heather Chambers (30-11).

The men did very well to clinch a victory over Seaton in their Foxlands competition, so well done to Scott Eveleigh, Mike Dart, Bill Nicholls, Kieran Daniels (23-12) and to Peter Goodwin, Eddie Sharman, Malcolm Seaborne and Trevor Pipe (26-18). The A team in the men’s Over-60 triple league team lost to Uffculme 34 to 41.

Sue Evans played again for Devon ladies who won against Herefordshire 143 to 81 in the Johns Trophy. We wish Sue luck when she plays in the national inter county double rink for Devon in the Walker Cup later this month.

And finally, a reminder for club members of the charity day on Saturday, June 13, at 2pm when there may well be sights to see and support.
