Honiton bowlers enjoy brace of mixed friendly wins

Honiton were successful in their two home mixed friendly matches last week, writes Joan Mackintosh.

First up they took on Devon Masonic in a contest that ended 69-37 to Honiton with the top rink being the one of M Bright, V Kille and B Baker, who won 29-10.

Next up, Exonia were beaten 98-57 and, in this game, the top rink was the one of D Roberts, B Adlem, L Howe and D Hawkins, who won 28-12.

However, in the mixed friendly played away at Budleigh Salterton, Honiton went down on both rinks and lost overall, with the final score being 50-23.

Honiton ladies won their friendly match that saw them entertaining Madeira, beating them 71-32 with the top rink being the one of Y Williams, R Richards, H Chambers (34-9).

There was a Top Club match last week for the Honiton men. It saw them take on Madeira against whom they won on two rinks, is week saw Honiton Men play a Top Club match against Maderia winning on two rinks. However, defeat on the other three rinks means that they exit the Top Club competition.

The successful rinks were the triples of P Baker, K Vernon, I Veitch (22-13) and the

pairs rink of T Tooley, T Pipe (22-14)

In the Inter Club League, Honiton men played Isca (Silver). Honiton lost 85-67, but did have some success with the rink of P Baker, G Stafrace, M Seaborne, T Pipe, winning 23-16.
