Over the last two weeks the Honiton ladies’ Over-50s teams have played four matches, as one match had been postponed in July, writes Joan Mackintosh.

Although the match played at home against Sidmouth Blue was close, it ended with Honiton being beaten 38-29 with Sidmouth taking the six points.

The away match played at Sidmouth proved to be both very exciting and mighty close – it ended all square at 33-all and so each side banked three points.

The Honiton rink scores were: R Richards, A Hillyear and Y Raynor (18-18) and M Parsons, Y Williams and H Chambers (15-15.)

In a ladies’ Over-50s game away at Ottery St Mary, Honiton won on both rinks and won overall at 40 shots to 18. The rink scores for Honiton were: J Granger, D Hawkins and H Chambers (22-9) and R Richars, J Heard and J Sherwood (18-9). The fourth ladies’ Over-50s match was a home game against Crediton Green that saw Honiton go down 46 shots to 22. Honiton have also performed well in their last two matches in the East of Exe League. At home to Tiverton Borough, Honiton won 78-50 with the top rink being the one D Hillyear, V Kille, K Clarke and T Pipe (27-7). This week’s match was played away at Culm Vale where Honiton won 61-55 with the top rink the one of L Howell, K Clarke, Y Rayner and M Seaborne (24-15). In the mixed friendly match at home to Bovey Tracey, Honiton won 60-48 with the top rink being the one of D Tooley, M Granger, D Hawkins and M Bright (18-6). Axminster visited Honiton to play a mixed friendly triples match that Honiton won 61-55 with the top rink being the one of V Kille, D Hawkins and J Smith (17-12). In a mixed friendly at home to Crediton, Honiton won 82-71 and their two winning rinks were: J Granger, M Critchley, J Smith and D Courtney (30-11) and C Ballun, B Mackintosh, P Baker and S Howell (21-11).
