Sue Evans has booked a return to Leamington after more success on the green, writes Julie Grant.

The Honiton ace has now won through to the last 16 in England and will compete at Leamington, for the second year running, for the national Champion of Champions title.

She booked her berth once again at Leamington by defeating Suzie Collins from Cornwall 21-13 in a contest played in Plymouth. Good luck, to our Sue!

There was also success also for four Honiton ladies when, to their surprise and delight, they won the Pomeroy Trophy at Madeira.

Yvonne Williams, Carol Armitage, Heather Chambers and Rita Barwick represented the club and competed alongside six other external teams against Madeira rinks.

After 21 ends and with a shot difference of 12, Honiton drew with Seaton but had scored more shots overall so were awarded the trophy.

Yvonne Williams also featured in the ladies victory over Feniton at Feniton, 52-44. Together with Daphne Courtnay and Dulcie Broughton, they were the top rink with an 18-9 win.

Unfortunately the Over-60s men’s Triples League A team came up against divisional leaders Madeira E and went down by the narrow margin of seven shots.

The defeat sees the team slip into the relegation zone with five games to play.
