The Fortescue Trophy Shield is presented each year at the annual charity bowling match at Honiton, writes Joan Mackintosh.
This trophy was presented to the club 20 years ago by Mr and Mrs Fortescue in memory of his grandfather, a founder member of the English Bowling Association and friend of the cricketer W G Grace, who was the first elected president of the English Bowling Association.
All funds raised at the match will go to the Admiral Nurses. After the match Mr and Mrs Fortescue enjoyed the buffet tea with the members. This year, the winners of the shield were the team of G Kille, N Baxter and W Heard with a score of plus 12.
In other action, there was a mixed friendly match at home to the Nomads that saw Honiton win on all rinks on their way to an overall 97-51 success.
The top Honiton rink was the one of D Roberts, Joan Mackintosh, N Baxter and M Bright.
