The Open Evening proved to be a big success thanks to the hard work of club volunteers, writes Julie Grant.
The club opened up the indoor arena to visitors last Friday and coaches Roger Binmore and Denis Hillyear helped newcomers in the skills of bowling.
Hopefully some will continue their interest in this sport as a pastime, hobby or at more competitive levels.
There was competition action last week for both the men and the ladies.
The men achieved a very good win in the two home two away rink national - the Denny Cup – beating Donyatt 80 shots to 64 with both home rinks winning.
The top rink was the one of Peter Baker, Eddie Sharman, Scott Eveleigh and Steve Dommett (23-12). This sets up a tie with Ilminster in the next round.
The ladies had county leagues again and secured four points against Plymouth in the Foxlands with the top rink comprising Berry Maynard, Brenda Harris, Marian Vessey and Shirley Hiscocks (22-19).
The top triple in the Lane League was the one of Myra Singleton, Jean Mitchell and Di Morley, gaining Honiton two points by winning 18-17.
There was yet another win in a mixed friendly, when will this run of victories end?
Axminster were beaten 80-55 with the top Honiton rink being the one of Joan Mackintosh, Les Crook, Daphne Courtney and Eddie Sharman (22-11).
