The month of September has been an eventful and successful one for Honiton Golf Club and particularly for club captain Stewart Slater, writes Liz Rogers.

First up the club hosted its final Open of the year in the form of a Texas Scramble.

The event, which attracted a huge field of 150 players, was hotly contested.

There were some impressive scores, but none more so than the pairing of the junior captain Ben Phillips and club captain Stewart Slater.

They navigated the course in 63 shots (less handicap allowance of five) for a total of 58 points and emerged as worthy winners.

The usual impressive prize table resulted in the winners on the day going away very happy.
