With the slope against them in the first half Honiton received the ball, but the windy condition allowed the ball to travel deep.

With Torquay close on its tail pressure was applied instantly and following some brief scrabbling the visitors managed to gain possession, the ball was fired out and run in under the posts almost uncontested.

As the game restarted Honiton struggled to find any composure where as Torquay were able to work well in all departments. They found their self’s crossing the line a further two times in the half, with two of the kicks finding the bonus points they were up 19 points. With Honiton managing to find their feet late in the half, Richey Webber was able to receive a little offload following some good support, receiving the ball well he crashed the white wash to give Honiton five valuable points going in to the break. The Lacemen were now with the slope and as the ball was collected by Torquay, Honiton were quick off the mark and were able to chase and turnover the ball, from this platform the ball was played in hand and in turn found its way out to Ben Kidson on the wing. With some good acceleration he crossed to bring the game back in reach. Torquay attacked well but Honiton defended equally well. Unfortunately they had to defend rather more than anticipated and as a result found it hard work in getting any attacking play flowing. When they did break out of their 22 they looked dangerous but Torquay answered quickly and the Lacemen found them self’s back repeatedly defending their line. The Lacemens defense stood firm and the game was played out with no additional points being gained by either team. The final result ended 19-10 with Honiton comfortably winning the second half.
