Saturday saw the first Open competition of the year at Honiton Golf Club, writes John Pawley.
The format was three-ball better ball with one score to count.
In glorious weather 56 teams competed for the Dave Bird Trophy.
Requiring at least one member of Honiton in each team, the all-ladies team of Jackie Seager, Henrietta Bradshaw and Anne Trayling were just beaten by club captain Julian Phillips, junior captain Ben Phillips and last year’s captain Stewart Slater, who came home with a fantastic 45 points.
