Honiton Under-12 Demons were narrowly beaten by the odd goal in five when they visited Crediton for a meeting with the Exeter and District League Under-12 Division Three table-toppers.

On a heavy surface the home team, as expected, made a confident start, but Demons defended well and, when the back line was breached the Demons goalkeeper was in great form.

Two well executed goals eventually gave the hosts a lead, but Demons hit back and Connor Richards rifled them back into contention with a fine finish.

The home side scored a third to lead 3-1 at the interval. In the second half Demons found a new gear and played some terrific football.

It was no more than they deserved when Jake Mabbutt chipped the home glovesman to set up a grandstand finish. However, try as they did, Demons could not find a third and slipped to a narrow, but most honourable, defeat.
