Honiton Demons Under-11 were worthy 5-1 winners when they met Moors Cobras.

On a heavy surface Demons took a while to come to terms with an increasingly heavy surface. Midway through the first half, following a mix up in the defence, Cobras took the lead. Just before the break Jake Mabbutt levelled things up.

After the break Demons began to use the width of the pitch, avoiding the boggy area through the middle, and they took the lead with a Conner Richards strike and that was followed by a second from Mabbut. Cobras were then awarded a penalty, but Demons gloves man Josh Edwards produced an excellent save and that seemed to galvanise the Demons back line of Harry Horn, Brandan Wright, Adam Dunsford and Ben Borkowski to such a degree that the Devils goal was not troubled again.

At the other end of the pitch James Pring scored his first goal of the season with a right footed shot into the top corner to increase the lead . Richards was denied by a splendid save and Ross Hurford was mighty close to his first goal of the season – only a goal line clearance denying him – as Demons controlled proceedings. It was Mabbutt who finished what he started m, netting his third and the Devil’s fifth to complete a fine victory.

Ross Hurdford was named the Devils’ Man of the Match for his effort and industry in both midfield and attacking roles.
