Honiton Demons Under-11s were beaten 8-0 by visiting Dawlish in their latest Exeter and District Youth league game.

With several players unavailable this week, quite a few players had to play in positions they would not normally play.

From the kick-off Dawlish displayed a strong attacking force, but the Demons put up a solid defence with Harry Horn, Adam Dunford and Jake Mabbutt playing their hearts out. Josh Edwards (playing in goal following an injury aggravated last week) pulled off some cracking saves, but unfortunately Dawlish hit the back of the net in the 11th minute. With Hayden Broom constantly keeping the pressure on and Ross Hurford positioning himself well up front with a shot at goal that was brilliantly saved by the Dawlish keeper , the Demons just couldn’t keep them at bay when they scored a further four times.

Following a half time pep talk, the Demons came back strongly taking the game to Dawlish, with striker Connor Richards forcing the Dawlish keeper to make several outstanding saves. With Broom going down injured with a nasty kick in the face; Kian Wright, Bailey Williams and Brendan Wright demonstrated some fantastic ball skills around the Dawlish team. Even though Corey Tratt-Skinner and James Pring showed constant determination they just couldn’t break through and find the finish the team so deserved. Dawlish went on to score a further goals in the last 10 minutes to win the match.

For a new team that has only recently formed the Demons have shown great spirit and teamwork!.

Man of the match this week (picked by the Dawlish manager) went to Harry Horn for his work in defence
