Honiton Devils Under-11s were involved in a thrilling 3-3 draw when they entertained top three outfit Twyford Spartans in their latest Exeter and District Youth League game.

The game started with a high tempo and chances came at both ends before the Mid Devon side took a sixth minute lead. Devils responded superbly and Sam Foster began a move that saw Connor Brown in space and his pass set Dominic McCreadie-Taylor off on a mazy left wing raid and he cut inside to rifle home the equaliser.

End-to-end football followed. The Devils back line of Lee Pulman, Jai Freemantle, Luke Matthews and Elliot Holdsworth were outstanding, but the visitors regained the lead to hold a 2-1 interval advantage.

The second half saw Devils serve up some of their finest football to date! From the re-start, driven forward by Joe Evans and, with Sam Foster now at centre-half Devils produced some accomplished play and it was no surprise when Ewan Evans inspired a slick move that saw skipper Zac Harrison slip a pass to McCreadie-Taylor who took an early touch, beating one player, then hitting a thunderous shot into the bottom left corner to make it 2-2.

Back came Twyford, but Devils gloves man Freddie Richards made some fine saves before providing an assist for the third Devils goal! A long clearance from Richards fell invitingly for Connor Brown who ran on to fire devils into a 3-2 lead.

With the clock ticking down Twyford levelled things up at 3-3 and that’s how a fabulous game of football ended.

Man of The Match went to Ewan Evans for his outstanding display throughout.

Devils boss Sean Brown said: “This was as good as it gets from the team in the second half. To come back twice as they did and then get ahead against a quality opposition speaks volumes for the team. They all put a super shift in.”
