Honiton Duathlon success for Marcus Durant

The first Sunday in June saw Honiton Running Club (HRC) and Honiton Spinners come together to host a Duathlon based from Payhembury village hall, writes Judy Davey.
It was a lovely sunny day and 20 teams set out to do the run-bike-run challenge around East Devon.
The road resurfacing teams necessitated a last minute change to the bike route but everyone got round the revised route. Marcus Durant won the sole male team with a superfast bike ride and HRC’s own Sherrie Hair was the first solo ladies’ team. Team Spiller, made up of Simon doing the running and wife Suzanne riding the bike, won the mixed team, just beating team Ferris!
Team Ferris had Paula running whilst husband Adam cycled. Alan Nicholls and his grandson Ashleigh (running) together with John Burgess (riding) won the all-male team. Finally Sharon Wells (runner) and Joanne Davey (rider) won the all-female team.
Thanks to Roger Saunders and Jennie Sleeman for being the main organisers of such a fabulous event thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The day before, Emilie Padmore completed the 100k Jurassic 100. She walked mostly, interspersed with a bit of running, but for Emilie it was a training run for Race the Stones in July.
The scenery was stunning, but brutal and it was hard to find anything flat except at Budleigh Salterton.
Emilie was running with a friend and completed it in 22 hours and 20 minutes.
