Honiton four play part in Devon Atherley Trophy success

Four Honiton bowlers helped Devon ladies to victory over Somerset in the national inter county knock out Atherley Trophy, writes Julie Grant.

Carole Binmore, Sue Evans, Julie Grant and Rosemary Hirons played at Donyatt last Sunday in an exciting, closely fought game that saw Devon victorious by 120 to 94.

In club mixed friendlies, the back end combination of Carol Armitage and Jimmy Smith achieved top rink in two wins, as did Ted Cox.

Against Taunton Deane Honiton won 100-64. The top rink was Ted Cox, John Munslow, Carol Armitage and Jimmy Smith, 38-8.

Carol and Jimmy combined with June Lee and J Mabbott to be top rink in Honiton’s 93-60 victory over Feniton.

Another success came against Budleigh, 75-36, and here the top rink was; Les Crook, Joan Mackintosh, Ted Cox and Dulcie Broughton, 31-11.
