Honiton foursome win the second running of the Silver Jubilee tournament

The second running of the Silver Jubilee tournament for members of Honiton bowling club was enjoyed by six teams, writes Julie Grant.
They also enjoyed a scrumptious lunch of beef bourguignon and trifle!
The winners at the end of the day were; Yvonne Rayner, Lynda Dommett, Steve Dommett and Trevor Pipe. The runners-up were;Jenny Baker, Fenella Griggs, Denis Hillyear and Peter Baker.
There mixed fortunes for the club in mixed friendlies last week with wins against Madeira and Dunkeswell and a loss to Chardstock.
In 59-51 success over Madeira the top rink was Fred Dart, Gill Munslow, Heather Chambers and Rita Barwick. In the 99-33 win over Dunkeswell the top triple was the one of Ron Taylor, Marian Vessey and Alan Fuller (31-4).
The one defeat was an 80-65 reversal against Chardstock with the top rink being the one of Ian Mackenzie, Linda Vince, Richard Chapple, and Mike Critchley (22-17).
In the ladies county leagues, the Lane Triples team had a splendid eight point win over local rivals Sidmouth, 71-51.
Here the top triple comprised; Di Hawkins, Tilly Tillier and Heather Chambers (22-6).
In the Foxlands rinks league, Honiton only managed to gain two points against ISCA with the winning rink the one of Ann Brown, Ann Hillyear, Yvonne Rayner and Julie Grant (22-11).
