Ben Phillips is Honiton Golf Club Champion, winning the John Adams Scratch Cup with a 36-hole total of 144. He beat Andy Clark into second place with 151 and James Spreadbury with 156.

Phillips led the way after round one with a creditable 73 with the first six holes played in pouring rain and swirling wind, so a mention to head green keeper Stuart Broom and his team for having the course in superb condition.

The chasing pack had to find some answers in the second round and it was Clark who had a level par 69 to try and put the pressure on, but Phillips held his nerve and ran out a comfortable winner by seven shots.

Ann Trayling won the ladies Scratch Cup by an amazing 19 shots, scoring a 36-hole total of 168, beating Sarah Loader with 187 and Jackie Seager with 193, fourth was Cathy Pawley with 198.

Ann also won the Alec Gosling Cup, a handicap competition played in conjunction with club championship, beating into second place John Tierney who both had a nett 68 with Ann winning on countback. A special mention to Andy Ford who had a hole in one on the second, an expensive day to do it!

On a very fine, hot and sunny day, there was fierce competition amongst the ladies to win the Handicap Cup for the best nett score in a medal competition.

In Division One, Ann Trayling took first place with a nett 68, beating Lady Captain, Sarah Loader, on countback. In third place was Sue Ritchie with a nett 69.

In Division Two, Joan Smith won with a nett 68, closely followed by Anne Jarvis with a nett 69. In third place was Jo Donmall with a nett 71. Lesley Oxenham had a fantastic Eagle 3 on the par 5 15th hole! The 9-hole medal competition was won by Penny Blackburn with a nett 37.
