Honiton Golf Club held a Festival Week when both members and visitors came out in numbers to play team competitions in various formats, writes Liz Rogers.

The final event was a three-ball better ball meeting that saw a grand total of 171 players turn out and compete in good weather.

As more than half the field were visitors from 25 different clubs, it was in every sense a true Open with the Clubhouse buzzing all day, finishing with the Prize Giving at 8pm.

With an impressive array of prizes on offer, the main winners of the day were the team of James Drew, Stuart Tolley and Darren Hanford of Honiton who took first prize with 44 points after countback was called into play and the trio also won the Dave Bird Trophy.

Honiton men continue to impress in The Dartmoor League. They travelled to Tavistock Golf Club, where many of the Honiton team had never played before, and returned with an impressive 3-2 success.

That’s two wins from two outings for the new members of the league!
