The 25th Founders Day at Honiton Golf club is where three men and a lady are drawn out to play in a two-score Stableford format.
The club had a fantastic turnout of 124 players, who played in brilliant sunshine and greens were running at their slickest.
The team who handled the tricky conditions the best were Hilda Hoepelman, Darren Moore, Pete Morgan and Ross Latchem with 79pts. Runners-up on countback were Jason Gosling, Keith Crane, Peter Blake and Maureen Lawrence with 76pts and in third place was James Spiller, Nick Doman, John Pawley and Danusia White.

The Tuesday Mixed have started their post lockdown competitions with encouraging turnouts on both days.
The first event on April 13 had nine teams taking part and resulted in a tie for first place with each team scoring 87 points. The winning teams were Jane and John Jackson, along with Linda Read and Chris Jacob, and Jackie and Allan Seager with Sheila Palmer and Peter Clarke.
April 20 saw a format of pairs better-ball stableford with 32 members taking part in glorious spring sunshine. In first place, continuing her excellent start, were Sheila Palmer and Paul Ritchie with 44 pts and second place went to Georgie Hope-Edwards and John Craig, scoring 42 points.
The Seniors Friday Competition was held on April 16 and was a three-ball better-ball with two scores to count. The winning team being George and Peter Blake with Dave Morgan with 77 points. Losing on countback and finishing second were Alan Deveney, Derek Keen and David Scott.
The Seniors inter-club results have led to two losses against Downs Crediton and Sidmouth but a credible home win against Long Sutton.
The Dartmoor League team have had their first league game and had a great result, beating Fingle Glen 4-1. Winning pairs were Dave Carnall/Derek Richards, Ross Latchem/Jon Marchant, Spencer Macklin/Neil Pullman and Captain Julian Netherway/Richard Beard.
All players are now enjoying the outside catering and new Marquee, let’s hope the sun keeps shining.
