Once again, the Golf Club had to use its ingenuity in the face of adverse weather conditions, writes Ann Desmoulins.

The only action was held on Good Friday. Any Easter bunny arriving at the Golf Club needed the full wet weather gear again, as the seniors’ Good Friday Invitational competition suffered the cancellation fate.

A suggestion by vice captain Steve Butcher for a meet saw around 15 members turning up – for the first Cave Chaos.

The weather outside did not affect the putting and driving competitions he had devised – and they all enjoyed the opportunity.

Teams of ladies and gents competed in putting tests, nearest the pin options and longest drive.

Alex Neil won the putting, Phil Faulkner was nearest the pin (after advice from Adrian Cave) and Steve Butcher had the longest drive.

On the ladies side of things, Cathy Pawley won one of the putting tests, and was nearest the pin whilst Olwen Eaton was the other putting winner.

Donated wine and balls were given out as prizes by Steve, and an alternative to not playing golf outside has been established.

Now we continue to wait and see when Spring will arrive!
