The game itself was full of entertainment with several Honiton RFC players finding themselves on opposing sides.

The conditions could be described as heavy and, as would be expected from two scratch sides, handling errors were numerous.

This did not detract from several creative phases of play that saw Honiton taking a lead into half time of three tries to nil.

The second half saw Heroes come back with some attacking verve, and new inspiration. With clever kicking and direct running they took the second half 12-5, the end result being a 20-12 win to the Honiton Select XV though neither side needed bragging rights as their job at the final whistle was done.

Around 400 people gathered to watch the game and take part in many of the family fun activities including a bouncy castle, barbecue, charity stalls with the band Sweet Black Angels played into the night.

It was a well-organised event and a lucky break in the weather saw a great result for the charity.
