A magnificent hole-in-one at the second hole by Linda Northover helped her team secure victory on Tuesday, writes Ann Desmoulins.
The Wooden Spoon is a hotly contested match between the ladies and gentlemen at Honiton Golf Club and this year 18 players on each side set off to do battle once more. Playing in pairs, and with a better ball format, it soon became clear that this was not going to be a walkover by either side!
Linda obviously inspired her partner Vicki and they won their match, but with eight results in, the score was four matches apiece.
However, the ladies were not to be beaten and the final match came in with a victory for the ladies and ensured that once again the blue ribbons were firmly fixed to the Wooden Spoon for all to see.
