Honiton Hornets were duly crowned champions of Petroc Two after a 3-0 win at Dart III.

The home side looked much changed from the one thrashed 11-0 when the teams met in East Devon earlier in the season.

Maddy Raynor moved into a centre midfield role to boost the attacking options and Hornets began brightly, but found the home goalkeeper to be in inspired form.

Jean Gormley had a number of shots on goal in the first half, but could not find the back of the net and it was only a stunning reverse stick shot from Katrina Tucker which managed to finally defeat the impressive keeper to see Hornets into the break with a 1-0 lead.

The attacking play – and hard work – continued in the second half.

The win was sealed thanks to a couple of pieces of excellent individual skill from Katrina Tucker.

Maddy Raynor was voted player of the match with Katrina Tucker just behind.

Hornets were also 4-0 winners when they met Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club (SOHC) IV.

Once again it was a case of the opposition goalkeeper being of the exceptional variety that restricted the goals for Hornets who eventually secured a 4-0 win.

Katrina Tucker helped herself to another brace of goals and there other players to score were Amy Phillips and Vanessa Trude, the ladder netting a fine individual goal when she saw off a number of challenges before drilling the ball home.

Hazel Teasdale had a great game with some determined attacking play and was named as Player of the Match.
