Honiton 2nd XI were well beaten by Clyst Hydon II in a contest that did not last 40 overs across both innings.

Batting first, the Mountbatten Park men were bowled out for just 91 in 27.2 overs with the biggest contributor to the total being extras which accounted for 36 of the total! The highest score with the bat came from Andrew Lapping with 18. That though, was the only double figure score and the ‘best of the rest’ was the eight scored by Ashley Munt.

Andy Brinsford (2-33 in five overs) bagged both the Clyst Hydon wickets as the opposition raced to victory inside a dozen overs. Ian Kelly and Nathan Groves held the catches that saw Brinsford bag his brace.

The defeat, coupled with a win for Exmouth III leaves Honiton set to miss out on a top two finish.

They head into the final four games of the league season sitting 37 points behind Exmouth with Clyst Hydon five points better off than the Maer men.
