Honiton Junior AGM well attended as Basil Steert Trophy is re-presented

The Honiton Juniors held their AGM followed by the Annual Dinner at the Club on Saturday, writes Andy Wagner.

The new junior captain for this year is Hannah Tierney who has taken over from Jake Phillips. Seventy-six members were at the dinner including the club president Alec Gosling, board chairman John Chew, club captain Ron Graham and lady captain Elizabeth Davies.

James Pickard, PGA Professional and Honiton Golf Club assistant to Adrian Cave, chaired the proceedings giving an excellent motivational speech and then club professional Adrian Cave helped by junior organiser Julian Phillips read out the awards which were then presented by James.

Honiton Juniors had a very successful season last year winning a number of cups and trophies including the Basil Steer Trophy which is a Devon Junior Knock-out competition and trophy was re-presented on the night. It is the first time in the history of this competition that any club has won it four times.
