With the Honiton golf course being so dry there was a lot of run on the ball during the latest meeting of the ladies section and those who were able to adapt their short game to suit, profited from the conditions, writes Ann Desmoulins.

The Bradshaw Bogey was the trophy competed for, donated by Henrietta a few years ago.

This is a par competition which involves match-play against the course-a format that many find very tricky.

There were some very good scores though, with a tight finish at the top.

The winner, on countback, was Sharon Rouse on plus four, edging Jan Prolock (also plus four) into second place.

Olwen Eaton, with plus two, was third and, again after countback, Danusia White was fourth with plus one.

The scores did result in three handicap reductions, which is most unfortunate news for the Sheelah Creasy team!

There have been a number of successes for the ladies in recent Open competitions too!

The team of Elizabeth Ward, Mona Carter and Lesley Oxenham won the Torquay Open, beating the team of Jackie Seager, Henrietta Bradshaw and Trish Swindell into second place while the team of Chris Luttman, Hilda Hoepelman and Ann Desmoulins, finished third in the Lady Vets Open at Tavistock.
