The Honiton ladies’ Bring-and-Win three-ball better ball stableford to be played over 14 holes was scrapped as many ladies had dropped out, writes Ann Desmoulins.

With the temperature at minus four degrees centigrade and a strong north-easterly (even though the sun was shining), the proposed shotgun start did not appeal.

However, those who did turn up were able to play 10 holes in lovely sunshine - well worth it in view of the weather being predicted to put the course out of action for some time - as so it proved.
