As the outdoor bowls season closes the indoors starts, writes Julie Grant.

Honiton finished their outdoor season with results which rather reflected much of the summer as they lost to visitors from Bovey Tracey 57 shots to 72, top triple Mike Critchley, Jimmy Smith and Gerry Stafrace, 17-15, then went away and lost to Feniton 61 shots to 76 with one winning rink of Malcolm Granger, Ron Rogers and Daphne Courtney, 23-14.

Club finalists celebrated their winnings at Presentation Evening, but members are tinged with sadness at the sudden passing of Ian McKenzie who had joined in on the recent club tour.

Indoors always commences with a ‘friendly’ match of the ladies versus the gents. An enjoyable afternoon, well it was for the ladies, who won 94 shots to 79, although the men did have one winning rink, that being the one of Garry Osborne, Ron Rogers, Dennis Hillyear and Barry Randall, 27-24. The ladies top rink, just, was Myra Singleton, Joan Mackintosh, Rita Barwick and Julie Grant.
