Honiton ladies end Over-50s League campaign with win over Okehampton

Honiton hosted a touring team from Cogenhoe, Northamptonshire, for an enjoyable afternoon of bowling in a seven rink mixed friendly match, writes Joan Mackintosh.

Honiton won the match 139 shots to 100 and the top home rink was the one of D Tooley, G Kile, C James and H Chambers, who won 27-9.

In the final match of the outdoor season for the ladies Over-50s League team, Honiton entertained Okehampton.

It proved to be a close contest, but Honiton took the honours, securing a 36-32 success to bank four points. The rink of J Granger, D Courtney and T Lambert won 20-13, while the rink of Y Williams, D Hawkins and H Chambers, lost 19-16.

The men also concluded their Over-60s League campaign, but it ended in a narrow defeat as they went down 34-32 at home to Exonia.

The successful Honiton rink, winning 20-16, was the one comprising M Critchley, B Nicholls and Mike Dart.
