The rescheduled ladies versus men encounter for the Wooden Spoon was played at Honiton on the final weekend of the month, writes Liz Rogers.
The weather was perfect for golf and, as the final pairing arrived back at the clubhouse the result was announced - a victory for the ladies to the tune of a 4-2 score line!
Congratulations ladies, the spoon now looks good with its shiny blue ribbon. It goes without saying that this was one trophy the captain did not want to win. After the men licked their wounds the ladies were reassured that the men would be back next year.
Club captain Stewart said a big thank you to everyone who supported the competition. This fun event is a good example of integration across sections and one which will hopefully swell in coming years.
In other club news, winners to congratulate are Mike and Jane Watts on winning the Glanvill Cup, Mark Tierney for winning the Hellier Cup and to Tony Bickel for his success in lifting the Steele Perkins Trophy.
