Honiton ladies were back out onto the course last week to contest another foursomes stableford, writes Ann Desmoulins.

This latest event incorporated the Coronation Foursomes and, once again, the meeting was belles with beautiful weather.

For some who had played other courses that week the contrast in the greens proved tricky-at least that is their excuse!

The winners were the established pairing of Chris Pearce and Brenda Hyde with 34 points.

Second place went to Danusia White and Chris Major (33) and third were Linda Blundell and Ann Trayling (31).

Countback was used to determine fourth and it saw Elizabeth Ward and Cathy Uttley edge Janet Hughes and Hilda Hoepelman into fifth after both pairs returned a score of 30.

In the County League’s, the Presidents team (for Silver Division players) had a very good win against old rivals Teignmouth at home, beating the visiting side four-and-three, while the Sheelah Creasy team ( for Bronze players) had two away games. The first took to that tricky venue that is the Warren where they lost 5-2, and then to the big course that is Woodbury in extreme heat, where they slipped to a 6-1 reversal.

Hopefully they can get their revenge when they play the same teams in the return matches at home.
