The latest ladies’ fun competition was organised with the popular Honiton Waltz format, played in threes with partners drawn – where possible with one player from each division – forming the teams, writes Ann Desmoulins.

Using Stableford scoring, one score counted on the first hole with two counting on the second and three on the third.

This was repeated until the end of the round. Generally play was completed in the dry, except the last unlucky few who got a soaking!

The redoubtable combination of competition secretary Vicki Rogers, treasurer Gill Johnson and ‘bandit’ Cathy Pawley were the winners with 76 points.

It was a close call for the minor places with countback called into play and that led to second place going to the team of Sue Ritchie, Hilda Hoepelman and Danusia White with Ann Trayling, vice captain Cherry Liell and Jan Portlock having to settle for third after both teams carded scores of 68.

The nine-hole competition was won by Sue Langdon (again!).
